the secret garden?

Hey guys!! I hope everyone is having the best winter vac, I know I am. Well all I’ve done is sleep way too much, bake a bunch and faff over my adorable nieces #singlegirlproblems, but I have loved every minute of it. Last week I left my comfy warm cocoon to do a long awaited creative shoot with my cousin, Simone. We’ve been wanting to do a forest, woodsy themed one since April. Unfortunately, there’s at least 500 km between us on most days…

So off to the botanical gardens we went. Well, that was the only place we were allowed to go. My parents figured my impulse to stop anywhere I saw some kind of tree plantation was not the safest of plans. In Pietermaritzburg, at our Botanical gardens, there’s a general spot EVERYONE takes photos at, I refused to go near it. We followed the signs that said forest trail and after a while came across some really cool spots. It didn’t even look like the part of the garden we generally go to for picnics and stuff. Once we found some not so cliche places, it was happy snapping.

Fun Fact: Sim still had her leggings on in this pic

Thankfully, the sun decided to grace us with its presence so it wasn’t completely freezing. Simone was such a good sport, it took a couple runs before I got running shots I was happy with… whoops…

I was really into a slightly dark gloomy vibe with these pictures, it is winter after all. They definitely contrast with some of the others where the sun is out…
