Buh-bye 2017!

Happy New Year’s Eve’s Eve! I feel like I blinked twice and time travelled to today, this has pretty much been the fastest year ever. I’m sure last year this time, we were still in September. Hah hah let’s all laugh at my lame joke.

Honestly, 2017 has by far been my most challenging year, I had my very first heartbreak, spent a week in and out of the ER, broke up with my ‘best friend’ and came close to chopping all my hair off out of frustration with my degree. Don’t worry, I didn’t make any bad hair decisions and all those nights of getting no sleep and my weekly crying-due-to-stress parties paid off, I’m officially a final year metallurgical engineering student! YAY! I saw so much growth in who I am a as a person this year.

Living the engineer life. I think my safety boots are quite the fashion statement don’t you?

Some of the lessons I’m taking into 2018 with me are that’s it’s great to fall in love, it’s even better to know your worth, and know when you deserve better. Also, Dua Lipa’s new rules should be everyone’s resolutions. Don’t pick up the phone! Losing people seemed to be 2017’s motto, and that can seem so daunting at first, but allow the people around you to surprise you with their genuine and unwavering friendship. I feel so blessed with my group of friends. Another big no no is toxic people, those who constantly feed off you with their needless drama, it’s a big step to shut that door but it needs to be done. That being said, I feel like 2017 was my year in a cocoon, watch this butterfly soar in 2018.

Another huge step this year was becoming that person who enjoys working out. I swear by Blogilates (AKA Cassey Ho), her workout videos changed my life. I look forward to rolling out my mat and letting her kill my abs (or lack thereof, for now) and the rest of my body. I lost a lot of my progress since moving back home but I’m so dedicated to improving my fitness in 2018. And to travelling more! I can, without a doubt, say that the highs have definitely been greater (in frequency and magnitude) than the lows this year and I’m so grateful for that.

Here’s to 2018, may our makeup skills and fitness regimes improve. May our friends stay true and travelling be a whole lot cheaper.

Love, Cayla…
