Picking out my cousin’s outfit!

Hey bloggerverse! Firstly, my sincerest apologies for this post being a few hours late, life tends to get in the way of plans. Secondly, look at me blogging for two consecutive weeks! Hoorah! Thirdly, I’m pretty sure I almost died today when I somehow swallowed the candy I had just popped in my mouth, I’m good now tho!

On Sunday my cousin and I challenged each other to do a little shop for the other. The aim?? Pick up a cute summer outfit for R250 or less. DUN DUN DUN. Let the games begin…

For the most part, this post is my thought process when I was shopping, and at the end there’ll be a mini review on what Simone, AKA The Awesim Blog, got me. For the full breakdown you’ll have to check out her site.

So, here’s the sitch, R250 is not a lot of money. And I didn’t want to take the easiest route and just pick up a dress. I really wanted to get a skirt/shorts and tee combo. I was betting on all the sales to able to pull this off. SPOILER: They came through and I made it R30 under budget!

We popped into Edgars first and then split ways, I spent a little time browsing the sale racks and found these adorable pastel bodysuits and knew I had to get them as part of the outfit. They gave off such Betty vibes. I figured I’d get them last since the store was near where we had entered. I scoured the mall, and found pretty much nothing that I had liked or that would match the top. I started losing all hope for the pastel frilly sleeved garment and began conjuring up new outfit ideas. I found semi-cute pieces, but they were always out of budget, made with sub par material or I simply was not feeling it.

I had gone into Cotton On once already but figured a second look couldn’t hurt anyone. Then the proverbial kettle in my memory clicked. I bought the cutest shorts at Cotton On, for R100, just three weeks ago. I was delighted to find, on a table in the back, that they still had some shorts on sale. I picked up a super cute floral pair, and in my mind the bodysuit mached it flawlessly. In reality? Not entirely… But the disjointed match has grown on me and I looove the outfit I picked for Simone. Even if she doesn’t wear the pieces together, apart they are just as impressive. I hope she loves the outfit as much I do, but hey I guess you’ll have to check out her post to find out.

To style the items for a quick backyard shoot, brown wedges were my pick. Can you tell that it’s raining in these pictures?

The outfit I got is pretty cute, I am crazy about the paperbag shorts, I have always wanted a pair. I’m not entirely sold on the top tho, I’m a fan of the shoulder anything, but I just prefer my clothes to be a lot more flowy, who knows it may grow on me. Never say never and yada yada… All in all, shopping is always a good time, I had so much fun bumping into Simone in a store and trying to hide what I was looking at from her. I’d totally do this all over again, maybe with a bigger budget next time!
