Light Shine Bright

Hey everyone! Geez this month is swooshing by. I need to brush up on my structures and properties of engineering materials course, but I really wanted to stop by and share my latest photoshoot. I am obsessed with Brandon Woelfel’s work. If you haven’t seen his stuff on instagram, what are you doing with your life?

I’m always so inspired by his posts and I missed having Christmas lights strung up above my bed, so I roped my cousin into a quick experimental shoot. I didn’t have tiny enough fairy lights at home so I improvised and I’m actually pretty happy with how things turned out. Luckily my house is a bit higher up overlooking my suburb so there was an amazing bokeh effect in the background.

Here are some of my favourites!

How cute are these rose gold lights from Typo. Tip: I bought them in July for R100.

Was anyone else obsessed with Nancy Drew books growing up? I had a full on mystery novel phase, I blazed through The Secret Seven, The Famous Five, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys. I don’t remember when last I went to a library for non scholastic reasons actually. I had the most fun and the hardest time deciding which books to take out. It was the place where I first discovered Harry Potter. My family was about to leave on a beach trip but I insisted on stopping at the library first, because what else is 10 year old Cayla supposed to do on holiday? I only got into Harry Potter in 2006 because I wasn’t allowed to watch it before as my parents believed it to be evil.

Thinking about Harry Potter, makes me remember what Dumbledore says in The Prisoner of Azkaban, which I think is such an apt way to end off this post:

Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.

-Albus Dumbledore

I hope you all have an amazing week ahead. Don’t forget to like, share, comment and subscribe to my mailing list!

Lots of light and love, Cayla.
